The Federal Government has started assigning applicants who applied for the Presidential Metering Initiative for Meter
Installer Training into training streams. Candidates who successfully submitted their applications are to login to their PMI dashboard to check their current application status.
How to Check The Power Force Presidential Metering Initiative Stream
- Visit the The Power Force PMI Application Portal.
- Login using your email address and password.
- On your PMI dashboard you will see that your application is “Pending”, that is under review.
- At the top of the dashboard you will see “Batch”.
- Some applicants fall under Stream 2 , others Stream 3 and the last category is “Unassigned”.
Force Presidential Metering Initiative – Batch and Stream Explained
Batch: Stream 1
- There is no current applicants with Stream 1 status appearing on their dashboards, Stream 1 are the trainees that have already received their training and currently carrying out the job of fixing and installing the prepaid meters across the country.
Batch: Stream 2
This batch falls under the current application, applicants under this stream will be the next batch to receive training and certification and government will engage them to continue with the job of installing meters.
Batch: Stream 3
- This will be the next batch to receive training after the second stream and government may decide to merge and train them together with Stream 2.
Batch: Unassigned
Unassigned applicants are those that registered recently, so seeing the status doesn’t mean you are not selected for the program. Application reviews and batch assignments are still ongoing, so keep checking your dashboard regularly for update.
What Next After Submitting Applications
After you successfully submitted your application, the management of the program will review your registration, assigned you batch and stream. Once the screening of your information and credentials are done, successful candidates status will change from “PENDING ” to”APPROVED”.
After the approval of your application, the next status will be “REGISTERED” that is they have matched you to designated training/registration center.

Certification: Successful participants will be certified by NEMSA as Smart Meter Installers, making them eligible for nationwide metering opportunities with both public and private sectors.

The Power Force Presidential Metering Initiative is executed under the Presidential Metering Initiative (PMI) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Youth Development which is a programme established to tackle skills gaps in meter installation while creating employment opportunities for youths.
The Presidential Metering Initiative is part of the efforts of the administration to enhance the performance of the electricity sector through expanded metering. This initiative involves a wider deployment of smart meters to help reduce estimated billing, improve transparency in electricity charges, strengthen revenue collection and improve service delivery.
Tinubu Presidential Metering Initiative is a nationwide initiative that connects opportunity with impact, creating jobs for Nigerian youths while strengthening electricity access in every state.
The first phase of Tinubu Presidential Metering Initiative is scheduled to start in Abuja in July 2026, with subsequent rollout across the 6 geopolitical zones.

Requirements for Tinubu Presidential Metering Initiative
Interested candidates who want to apply for this initiative must satisfy the following requirements:
- You must be a Nigerian between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
- Have a Science and Technical education background and must possessed a minimum of SSCE qualification or Equivalent.
- Have a valid National Identification Number (NIN).
- Be physically and mentally fit as the program requires physical activities.
- You must be willing and ready to learn and work in the power sector.
- Have no prior experience as training will be provided.
Tinubu Presidential Metering Initiative will give an added advantage to NYSC Corp members and students of Technical and Vocational institutions.

- Provide the name the institution you graduated from.
- Select wether you attended higher institution or not.
- For applicants with higher institution qualifications, you select your course such as; Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering, Civil engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics and Other Technical Fields.
- For Secondary School Leavers (SSCE), they should select their class which are, Arts, Science and Commercial.
- Upload your highest qualification and move to the next stage.
